Hi Sabine,

Of course it wasn't her business. Some people don't now what it means to have boundaries. I was surprised by her questions.

OH NO SHE DID NOT! was my first thought. I decided it would upset her more if I were a sassy snot. I bet I was the topic of her conversation with her and her friends all day.

Hi, what a great story, made me laugh...If the experience leaves you with a taste for braless, see www.usefulchickstuff.com for things like nipple covers (to get rid of headlights), otherwise, the Faveo Freedom Bra is a godsent for us bigger girls. Check out www.faveo.co.uk, it looks weird but really does work!

Hey There Erin,

I completely hear what your saying. There are so many lessons to be learned from that generation-many of us are not fortunate enough to remember or where not around to take those very valuable lessons with us.

I'm sure that reflecting on those memories makes you smile :-)

I wish I could ask my beloved maternal grandmother. She was just magical in her ability to turn hardly anything into beautiful.

For years there was this old kitchen cabinet door kicking around the basement. Wherever you turned, this thing was in your way. Finally, fed up with tripping over the thing for the four thousandth time, I asked her, "Grandma, what are you saving this door for?" She replied, "Well, I thought we might need the handle one day". "So why not unscrew the handle, and get rid of the door? That handle would only take up three inches of storage." "Oh, I never thought of that!" That struck us both so funny, we laughed until we cried.

"You don't think of throwing things away when you've lived through a depression", she told me later.

Thanks for stopping by Erin.

There are so many of those "when I was a girl" stories that seem to be flooding back to me these days.

I wrote about patent leather shoes, because they help such good memories for me. I wonder what is was like for a struggling mother to get them for her daughter?

Just this very evening, my Mom, who's 77, told me the story of how she got a pair of patent leather shoes every Christmas as a child. She had no idea times were tough then. She loved her shoes so much, she slept with them.

There really is something special about patent leather shoes.

Lovely post, came over via Five Star Friday.
